Senior Year Journals
1st Journal - The Beginning Of The End
Many things were going through my mind as I started school the very first day. I still couldn’t believe that it was the start of my last year in high school. It seemed just like it was yesterday that I was first entering high school as a freshman. I feel like not to long ago I was in elementary saying to myself “I can’t wait to graduate!”. Now I am here on my last year before graduation wishing I could go back to being that kid in elementary. It seems as if when you're young, all you want to do it grow up, but when you're already grown up, you want to be a kid again. Time flies by so quick.
My first week as a senior already ended and to top it off I didn't start off the year feeling to good during that first week. I had been really nervous and just over thinking about graduation day. I feel like I'm not ready for the real world nor go off to college on my own. Yet still, nothing is stopping me from being motivated, trying to stay on pace on all my classes, and ending the year strong. What also made me feel better during the first week was seeing friends and learning facilitators that support me. You can say I lost my focus during the first week, but I switched my focus over to my senior project.
For my project I am currently working on my journals, but I am a little behind due to the fact that I was unaware that there are four journals due this Senior Year. It has me a little worried, but I feel like overall I’ll do just fine on my project. What I feel was really exciting about my project was the job shadow I attended with a Lindsay police officer. I really learned a lot about the law enforcement field and how to get in it. I took everything i learned into consideration on whether or not i wanted to be a police officer. It was definitely a great experience and something to remember.
This year there are so many things I look forward to doing. Some of those things include attending senior sunrise and senior sunset, playing soccer for the school, and maybe even asking a lucky girl out to prom. That's just a few things, I also look forward to taking the SAT once again, improving my GPA score, and sign up to attend a university. My goals after high school are to hopefully be enrolled to attend a university and study to be a homicide detective. My main goal for this year in school it to stay on pace and finish all my classes, and by the looks of my learning facilitators, I have a feeling it’s going to be a excellent year. Most importantly, my goal is to walk the day of graduation and have fun. Now let the countdown to graduation begin, wish me luck !

2nd Journal - The Next Step
A lot has definitely changed since my last journal entry. To begin with, I am not as nervous as I was at the beginning of the school year. I feel more relaxed and confident about graduation day. Everything has been going good so far this year. All my classes have been excellent, but one, which is AP Spanish. I find that it is a really challenging class for me because I’m not a really good Spanish reader. Even though I face a lot of difficulties in that class, nothing stop me from putting in the effort to complete all my work. Other than that I feel like I should end the semester on pace on all my classes.
It’s my main priority/goal is to end the semester all finished up on my classes and be on pace so that I can have a relaxing winter break. I wouldn’t want to worry about having to get work done during my winter break. So far I don’t find anything too difficult about my senior project and I’m currently on pace on completing my senior project. I feel like it should be an easy task for me to completely and be ready to present during the second semester. Not to mention that I really enjoy doing my senior project. For example, all the journals that I’m writing can be something that I could look back to and remember on when I am off in college. The job shadow has helped me get a experience on what i want to be, I really enjoyed the experience as well.
My senior year has been going really nice so far. I’ve made lots of memorable memory with friends and family. I hope the rest of the year get even better! I have already taken steps to prepare and made goals for myself after high school. I’ve already submitted my applications to four California State University. I applied to San Francisco State, Sacramento State, Chico State, and Fresno State. I already got accepted into Fresno State and still pending from the other schools which is really exciting for me! I’m still thinking about applying to University as well! I’m not to sure on what I want to study in college yet. I’ve been thinking about either entering the medical field or law enforcement field. Overall, I have a exciting and nervous feeling about finally going to college.
There have been a lot of people who have supported and motivated me on my plan after high school. Family, friends, learning facilitators, if it wasn’t for their help and support I don’t think I’d have the plans and goals I have set for myself after high school right now. My family help me with personal problems, my friends help me with anything I need, and the learning facilitators have been helping me applying to college. I also feel like they’re the people who motivate me to do good in school and I don’t want to let them down.

3rd Journal - Near The End
My winter break was a blast! I spent most of my time working with my dad in the fields, which is the downside to my break, since I didn't really sleep in too much. On the other hand, my Christmas Eve was well spent with my friends/cousin. I spent the entire day playing guitar and eating at my cousin's house. My Christmas was spent at home with my family like every other day. Even though I didn’t get any presents, it was nice having a peaceful day at home. There's nothing more I couldn't ask for than to be with my family. The best thing about my winter break was how I spent my new years, not to mention that it was the most memorable of all other new years! I had stayed up with my cousin and brother all night talking, singing, and playing video games! To sum things up about my winter break, let me just say it was time very well spent.
Reflecting back on my first semester, I could say that i absolutely loved it. I had a memorable semester at school and made great memories with friends and learning facilitators. There is not a single thing I regret doing during my last semester, other than procrastinating on my school work. There’s a lot of things I’ve also learned this past semester also. I plan on trying hard and putting effort to not fall behind on any classes because I really struggled getting back on pace to end the semester on track. I feel like reality has been really hitting during this semester. I really start to overthink about me not being ready for college. Applying to college and FAFSA has made me really think about my future and plans after school. I have been really looking forward to going to college right after high school. I'm really excited but at the same time nervous.
Before I graduate I want to pass all my classes ahead of time so that I am not stressed out about it towards the end of the school year. I’ve seen a lot of people doing everything in a rush to be able to graduate and I don't want to be one those people.I also want to learn to be more independent to prepare myself for after high school. I want to spend my last days at high school relaxed knowing that I'm going to graduate. My college applications have been going fine. San Francisco State has recently accepted me, Chico and Sacramento are have still not determined a decision. I also found out that I am not required to take neither math nor english placement test, which relieves some pressure. I hope I get accepted to all the CSU I applied to! My main plans after high school are to attend Sacramento State and get my B.S.N to become a nurse. I am just a few weeks away from graduation, the countdown is near its end.

Last Journal - The Start Of A New Chapter
Graduate day is just right around the corner. There are so many feeling and thoughts that are going through my head. I don’t know weather to feel nervous or exciting about graduation. It’s a lot of mixed feeling, I feel nervous because I’m really not sure if I'm ready, but then again I’m excited to finally go off to college. Believe it or not, just by typing this last journal entry, I am getting nervous. What I am also really nervous about is presenting my exit interview. It seems like a simple task, but the whole presentation thing is what gets me nervous and worried. Some preparations I have taken so far for my post graduation are finishing up my senior project and getting set up for my exit interview. I’ve also tried to become more independent to prepare myself for after graduation and getting rid of the habit of procrastinating.
In order to graduate I need to complete all my current classes that I am enrolled in. I also need to wrap up my senior project and complete my exit interview. In order to get all this done, I am going to stay focus and if necessary, stay after school and get help. There are a lot of things to look forward to these last weeks I have in high school. Some of those things include things like senior sunset and maybe even decided on going to gran night. My plans after high school have definitely changed compared to the beginning of my senior year. I started off wanting to become a police officer, to a criminal investigator, to a pharmacist, to finally a nurse. I really but a lot of thought into becoming a nurse and i think it’s something that really interests me and something I want to do with my life.
High school has really taught and showed me so many things. Along the way of my high school years, I lost friends to bad choice they made. I also lost a special person who meant so much to me. I sure have lots of memories that I experienced while at Lindsay High School, and I am sure they’re going to stay with me for the rest of my life. I’m going to miss a lot of learning facilitators and friends. I am also going to make the best of these last couple days of my childhood because after graduation, I’m not a kid anymore. Looking back at my high school years, I’m grateful for everyone who was there for me and motivated me to do good in school. Most important I want to thank my parents for raising me the way they did. I am sure they I’ll make them proud as I walk across graduation and receive my high school diploma. I want to say thank you to all my learning facilitators that I’ve had throughout the year. After graduation, a new chapter in my life will begin. “Once a cardinal, always a cardinal.”
